The Center for Variety Testing of Agricultural Crops was established in 1937 and its main tasks include conducting variety trials, conducting expert certification of crop patents, maintaining the State Register of Cultures Recommended for Sowing in Our Republic, conducting variety trials based on scientific and methodological methods, expanding international cooperation, and enhancing the qualifications of staff.

The Center for Testing Agricultural Crop Varieties operates 55 variety testing stations and plots located in 13 regions of the Republic. The Center also includes the Tashkent Cotton Fiber and Chemical Technology Laboratory.

According to the methodological manual of the International Organization for the Legal Protection of Plants (UPOV) on the patentability of breeding achievements 138 varieties were examined and 70 conclusions were given.
Number of varieties in the register
The State Register of Agricultural Crops Recommended for Sowing in the Republic of Uzbekistan includes 2,177 varieties and hybrids of 25 agricultural crops.
List of varieties under testing
282 varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops are being tested, including 109 grain and food crops, 123 industrial varieties (19 foreign and 104 domestic varieties of cotton), 50 varieties and hybrids of other crops.
